This EGR cooler is a coolant-fed heat exchanger on the 1.6 CDTi diesel that cools recirculated exhaust gas before it returns to the intake, lowering combustion temperature and NOx. Typical reasons to replace it: an internal leak (coolant loss without a visible drip, white smoke), an external leak, clogging or EGR cooler efficiency fault codes. Fits Opel/Vauxhall Astra J 2014-2018, Astra K 2015-2019, Insignia A 2015-2017, Insignia B 2017-2019, Meriva B 2013-2017, Mokka/Mokka X 2014-2019 and Zafira C 2013-2019 with 1.6 CDTi engines. Made by Valeo for GM, also listed as 1679844380. Refill and bleed the cooling system after fitting. 55509027 replaces 55503429, 55501178, 55492788 and earlier numbers, so compare the number on the old part.
