This balance shaft kit is for the 2.2 4N14 diesel. On this engine the oil pump is built into the balance shaft unit and cannot be replaced on its own, so the kit includes it. The shafts sit low in the engine. The crankshaft drives them at twice engine speed, and they cancel second-order vibration. Typical reasons to replace it: vibration at certain revs, gear whine or rattle, loud ticking from the sump at idle that fades as revs rise, metal particles in the oil. It fits the Outlander 2.2 2010–2018 and ASX 2.2 2013–2018. The kit number is 1132A018, superseded by 1132A097 and 1132A168. Inside are balance shaft 1125A281 (earlier 1125A202, 1125A253) and coupling 1132A027 (1132A026). When fitting, time the shafts to the crankshaft by the marks. Compare the number on the old part.
