This EGR valve feeds a metered amount of exhaust gas back into the intake side of the diesel engine, lowering combustion temperatures and NOx emissions. Over time, soot and carbon build up on the valve and its seat, so the valve sticks open or closed. Typical signs are a rough idle, black smoke, loss of power or limp mode, and the engine warning light with an EGR fault code. It fits the Mitsubishi ASX 2.2 and Outlander 2.2 from 2015 to 2018, only with the 4N14 Euro 6 engine. Clear the fault memory after fitting. The OEM number is 1582A522; compare it with the number on your old valve.
