This air intake pipe runs from the air filter housing to the engine intake and carries the filtered air the engine breathes. Over time the rubber hardens and cracks, usually at the bends and where the clamps sit. A split pipe lets in air that has bypassed the filter and the air-flow meter. Typical signs are a hissing noise, loss of power, uneven running or an engine warning light. It fits the Mitsubishi ASX 1.8 (4N13) and the Outlander 2.2 (4N14), 2010–2012; from 2012 the cars use a different pipe, 1505A602. OEM numbers: 1505A677, 1505A653, 1505A548 and 1505A430. When fitting, push both ends fully home and tighten the clamps properly. Before ordering, compare the number on the old part.
