The MultiAir unit is the electro-hydraulic actuator bolted to the cylinder head of the 1.4 MultiAir petrol engine. The intake camshaft drives it, and one solenoid valve per cylinder controls the oil pressure that opens the intake valves. This is how the engine varies intake valve lift and timing. It is usually replaced because of a misfire on one cylinder, loss of power, MultiAir fault codes or an oil leak at the unit. It fits the Fiat 500X, 124 Spider, Bravo II and Punto Evo / Punto (2012-), and the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, with 1.4 MultiAir engines. 46342822 is the current number and replaces 55228221, 55257643 and 55272426.
