This VVT solenoid (oil control valve) sits on the cylinder head and feeds engine oil to the camshaft phaser, so the engine control unit can advance or retard the valve timing as revs and load change. When it sticks or its small filter screen clogs with sludge, the usual signs are a rough or hunting idle, stalling, hesitation, higher fuel use and the engine warning light with a camshaft timing fault code. It fits the Mitsubishi Space Star 1.0 (2012-2020) and 1.2 (from 2012) with the 3A90 and 3A92 engines. The OEM number is 1028A125. Compare the number on the old part before ordering.
